NOTICE: CITY COUNCIL MEETING WILL PROCEED AS SCHEDULED

The City of Burton would like to clarify that the Burton City Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. has NOT been canceled.
The City is aware of information circulating on social media indicating that the meeting was canceled. This information is incorrect.
The City has consulted with its legal counsel and has confirmed that the required meeting notices were properly handled under Sec. 551.043. The Council agenda was posted at City Hall prior to the deadline required under the Texas Open Meetings Act. Additionally, the Public Hearing Notice was published in the Banner Press as required by state law, and the agenda was also provided to KWHI. https://cityofburton-tx.gov/documents/247/Council_Agenda_8-11-2026.pdf
The City is aware that the agenda did not appear to post correctly on the City’s website on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. We are documenting and addressing that issue in consultation with the City Attorney.
